The hitch pin and clevis pin locks # RM-304 referred to in Brad's video for the RoadMaster Receiver Hitch Lock # RM-315 do not have a keyed alike option so you would have two keys, one for the clevis locks and one for the hitch pin lock. Out of the options we currently have the # RM-304 would be the best choice for your setup since it comes with two heavy-duty clevis locks keyed a like and a hitch pin lock all in one package. view full answer...
According to Curt, it would technically be possible to use 5/8 inch diameter bolts in place of the pins used on their # C45008 Adjustable Clevis and Pintle Hook, but they do not recommend doing so. The weight capacity was confirmed in testing using the pins included with the clevis/pintle and if bolts were substituted, the weight capacity would be completely unknown. If you were concerned about theft, you could replace two of the pins using locking hitch pins such as part # e98881 which... view full answer...
If you plan to tow a variety of trailers including those with couplers that accept 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch, 2-5/16 inch balls, along with trailers that have a lunnette ring, spade, or clevis, then this is the ball mount for you. The Curt A25 5th wheel hitch you'd looked at, part # C16180 weighs about 120 lbs, and the necessary # C88KR base rail to puck adapter weighs right at 70 lbs.
The hitch is a bit heavy, but its weight can be significantly reduced by removing the hitch from the head, which is done by pulling one clevis pin. This breaks the hitch down into two pieces that are more easily handled.
